Ok all you need to do to install SlimServer 6.5.3 on your Qnap TS-109/109 Pro is follow the following steps:

1. Download the following files: install script, install package, firmware 1.1.0 for TS-109, firmware 1.1.0 for TS-109 Pro
2. Before you do anything else, install the v1.1.0 firmware
3. Copy the install script and install package files to the Public share on your Qnap TS-109/109 Pro
4. Using an application like Putty, SSH in to your NAS drive using the IP address of your NAS drive on port 22
5. Login as the administrator (U: admin P: admin)
6. Enter the following command: "cd /share/HDA_DATA/Public". If you have two drives in your system then enter the following command: "cd /share/MD0_DATA/Public" (don't include the quotes)
7. To start the install procedure enter the following command: "./install-ts10x-20x.sh debian-4.0-arm-2007-07-15.gz "

The install package will now install itself. When the task has completed and the SSH prompt has returned SlimServer will automatically run. it may take a couple of minutes to come up on port 9001 after the install has finished. Type "exit" to quit out of the SSH session.

Once complete you should be able to see SlimServer 6.5.3 on port 9001 of the IP address of your TS-109/109 Pro (Twonky Media server, if switched on uses port 9000 so we have set Slimserver to port 9001 to avoid any conflict).

When ever possible we always suggest that you install this package on an empty drive that has just been installed in to your Qnap TS-109/109 Pro just incase anything goes wrong on installation and you loose any data. You should be able to install it on a Qnap TS-109/109 Pro that already has data on it though without any problems.

If you want to uninstall SlimServer from your Qnap TS-109/109 Pro then SSH in to your NAS drive and enter "./install-ts10x-20x.sh uninstall"

Uninstall note: The uninstallation process involves stopping slimserver and unmounting a couple of filesystems. Sometimes Slimserver may take some time to close down, depending on what it is currently doing and the server load in general. If Slimserver takes longer than 20 seconds to shut down, the uninstall script may complain that it couldn't unmount one or more filesystems. If this occurs, simply re-run the script. It should succeed the 2nd time.

If you have a requirement to update the Firmware on your Qnap TS-109/109 Pro then you must first uninstall SlimServer from your NAS drive.

Change Log:
* Chroot music directory now pointed at the Qmultimedia share, rather than Public/music
* New directory added Public/plugins - allows user (administrator) to install plugins directly, rather than needing an update package.
* Now supports AAC+ streams
* Mplayer updated
* ALAC decoder updated
* Lame updated
* Mysql updated
* Complete (minimal) Debian system at your disposal. Technical users should find it easy to install a selection of the ~16000 software packages available via "apt-get". Installing additional software comes with no support. You break it, you fix it.

Included plugins (other plugins are now user-installable):
* AlienBBC
* LastFM
* Lazy search
* Playlist manager
* Slimscrobbler
* Weather time

It is now very simple to install 3rd party plugins. Simply copy the plugin (make sure if there is a Linux version that you use that one, though most or not OS specific) in to the plugins folder in the Public share and reboot. On reboot the plugin will install and will be available to you.
